Construction Site Project Manager

The Construction Site Project Manager, Hambro and Murox products, will work in a supportive team environment playing a key role in overall project success. Responsibilities will include coordination of the day to day activities relating to Canam’s scope of work on site, as well as monitoring the site progress, construction schedule and quality control of the installation.

 

Essential Functions Include:

  • Aptitude to ensure compliance of safe work practices and health and safety legislation, policies and procedures;
  • Communicate the daily site progress to the project management manager;
  • Follow up on the day to day activities of the site;
  • Coordinate deliveries for on-site fabrication of building components;
  • Coordinate site issues with the trades and engineering team;
  • Monitor and adjust erection schedules as required;
  • Prepare the long-range schedules for on-site meetings;
  • Attend trades meetings on site;
  • Review and approve invoices;
  • Material procurement as required;
  • Read and comprehend erection and structural steel fabrication drawings;
  • Quality control of fabricated pieces of structural steel sent to site, as well as inspection of the erection;
  • Submit daily site reports;
  • Monitor and report changes to the scope of work as project progresses;
  • Site project personnel support.

 

As a member of our Project Management Team, you will possess:

  • A tenacious Safety behaviour;
  • A B.Sc. in civil engineering and/or construction management degree or equivalent, from an accredited institution, or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills;
  • An understanding of engineering theories and principles; and practical knowledge of CISC;
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and English communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Experience with MS Project or other scheduling software, is essential;
  • Understanding of LPS (Last Planner System) an asset;
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and other software;
  • Punctuality, maturity, reliability, an ability to work well under pressure with frequent interruptions while delivering exceptional customer service is essential to excel in this role;
  • Ability to travel and work on turn around terms (10-4 or similar);

The successful candidate will be responsible for projects within Western Canada and as such must be willing to travel frequently. This position may be based remotely with the option of telecommuting to our offices.

Physical Demands:

The ability to stand continuously is essential with extensive walking and occasional sitting. The nature of the position will require the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling, climbing (stairs/ladders), crouching, bending and handling. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

 

Work Environment:

Working safely is a condition of employment. Constant exposure to a construction site environment and regular exposure to weather conditions, excessive noise levels and vibrations. Often works near moving mechanical. Occasionally works in high, precarious positions.
