Maintenance Worker

Install, maintain and repair as necessary, production equipment and electrical/electronic components of machinery and equipment.


Essential Functions:

  • Diagnose and repair production equipment;
  • Repair a variety of building/facility maintenance issues;
  • Rebuild and/or upgrade machinery;
  • Cut with torches;
  • Read blueprints;
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to, cleaning, trash/scrap removal, and other production-related jobs;
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with customers, co-workers, clients and supervisors;
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of area;
  • Work in a safe and conscientious manner.


Job Requirements:

  • 6-24 months maintenance experience in manufacturing environment;
  • Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence;
  • Prior maintenance experience including electrical, cranes, HVAC or pneumatic desired;
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision and as a team member;
  • Read and speak English;
  • HS Diploma (preferred).

Evening/ Night Shift, may vary to suit requirements of shop and jobs to be completed. Must be able to work daily/weekend overtime.

Physical Demands:

The ability to stand continuously is essential with occasional walking and sitting. The nature of the position will require employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects (50lbs) to climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling.  


Work Environment:

Work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. Exposed to the risk of flash burn of eyes and exposed skin burned. Heightened noise level in the work environment.


Canam Lean Innovation:

Support the Canam Lean Initiative through active engagement and participation in continuous process improvement projects based in Lean Manufacturing Principles.

Participate in trainings and continuing education events to develop a working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles and build a consistent “Lean Way of Thinking”.

Assist in the collection of data, participate in Kaizen workshops and contribute to the implementation of solutions, replicate successful improvements, share lessons learned and provide feedback on opportunities for change that will further the continuous improvement process.
