May 9, 2016

The Canam Group plant in St. Gédéon de Beauce, will receive a mobile training unit from May 9 to 13 to offer development opportunities to its employees. This mobile training center, belonging to Formation Québec en réseau, is built in a 53-ft. (16-m) trailer and is equipped with the latest IT tools. It has ten stations having high-speed Internet access, an interactive whiteboard and digital tablets. It will allow employees to develop their skills in their workplace.

Training, which will be provided to 35 employees, will focus on welding symbolization, or blueprint reading for welding. The objective is to teach them to recognize, interpret and draw welding symbols. “For this training, we want our employees to grow and develop new skills. With the recruitment of recent years, we taught the basics of welding to several people and now want to perfect them” said Julie Barriault, Human Resources Manager at the St. Gédéon de Beauce plant.

The workers, who will receive 15 hours of training, all work in structural steel production. They will be able to use their newly acquired skills as soon as they return to the work station. “The development of our people has always been an important value at Canam Group. The innovation we show by welcoming the mobile training unit will be beneficial for our employees”, concluded Julie Barriault.
