A Modular Corridor for Quebec City Airport
September 15, 2015
To accommodate the passengers of the Quebec City Jean-Lesage International Airport, a temporary 165-meter corridor is now operational. Canam-Buildings designed, manufactured, assembled and produced it in only ten weeks – 4 days before due date – with its BuildMaster approach.
Designed with Murox prefabricated wall panels (a total of 128), steel structure and joists (over 100 tons) and steel deck (2,400 m2), this project was built on the existing tarmac, without foundations. “We had to take into account certain constraints to achieve this unusual project, among others, vibrations due to passenger movement, a steel foundation resting on the tarmac, a structure with multiple angles, sloping floor and a connection to an existing building on two floors”, said François Morissette, Business Development Representative. But the challenge has been met! Moreover, it could be dismantled and reinstalled for further use in the late expansion work of the airport in 2018.
Another Canam-Buildings achievement where its expertise has been recognized!
