BMO Field in Toronto Receives an Award of Merit From ENR Magazine
August 23, 2017
Canam Group teams who collaborated in the expansion of the BMO Field in Toronto, were very proud to learn that the stadium won an Award of Merit from ENR Magazine in the 2017 ENR Global Best Projects Winners contest. The award was won in the “Renovation/Restoration” category. The judges had a difficult task of selecting 23 winning projects hailing from 17 different countries and six continents. Each project was an outstanding example of the risks, rewards and the hurdles to overcome of designing and building internationally.
Canam Group teams worked on the expansion and modernization of this stadium that was executed in two phases and completed in 2016. The first phase of the project consisted in the fabrication and installation of an 8,400-seat grandstand, bringing the stadium’s total seating capacity between 25,000 and 34,000 spectators according to the set-up of each event. The second phase consisted in the fabrication and installation of a partial roof composed of three canopies over the east, west and south grandstands of the 10-year-old stadium. Except for a small amount of subcontracting, all steel components were fabricated at the Canam Group plant in St. Gédéon.
Congratulations to all teams who took part in this successful project!
