Canam Group Winner at the 2014 Octas Competition

May 29, 2014

OCTAS 2014The winners of the 2014 Octas competition were announced at the gala dinner that took place on May 24 at the Quebec City Convention Center. It is in the “Transformation of Organizational Processes – Over 1,000 Employees” category that Canam Group won for the project “Drawing Management – Paperless Environment”. Companies competing in the same category were the National Bank of Canada and the city of Quebec.

Organized each year by Réseau Action TI, the Octas is an annual competition that recognizes excellence in Quebec’s information technology industry.

Project Description

Each of the 10,000 projects that Canam Group completes annually requires a great number of drawings, sketches and documents. During a project, several revisions make the management of all this material complicated, adding to the challenge of ensuring distribution to the various plants and offices located throughout the world.

The objective of the project was to transit from a paper to a digital environment and optimize the flow of these documents within internal processes and interactions with business partners. Adopting multi-screen workstations and the deployment of the BlueBeam platform allowed Canam Group not only to achieve the initial goal of digitization, but also stand out in the industry by adopting an innovative collaborative process.

OCTAS 2014

Pierre Lecavalier, Réseau Action TI, presented the 2014 Octas trophy to Pierrot Larose, Manager, Outsourcing Services, InteliBuild and Patrick Martin, Chief Draftsman, Canam-Heavy, two environment sensitive people working for Canam Group.

We would like to congratulate all the teams who collaborated in this transformation!
