Canam in Point of Rocks Nominated for the Governor’s Leadership Award
November 28, 2012
The Canam Point of Rocks plant has been nominated for the Governor’s Leadership Award presented by The World Trade Center Institute. This Institute is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 by Maryland Governor William Donald Schaefer, and a founding Board of Directors comprised of leading business people in the region to act as an international business educational organization.
Beginning in 1995, the WTCI organized the annual Maryland International Business Leadership Awards that recognize excellence in all areas of the state’s economy such as manufacturing, agriculture, hi-tech, environment and service. A special award, the Governor’s Leadership Award, recognizes individuals and organizations that have demonstrated sustained and exemplary efforts in support of Maryland’s international relations and/or trade.
50-70 nominations were received this year. The nominating committee reviews the nominations and selects 10-12 companies that meet their selection criteria and they visit each of the semi-finalists. Canam was selected as one of the finalists and interviewed with the panel on November 9th. The final award winner will be notified in January, 2013.
We are very proud of the nomination and thank the local Frederick County Economic Development Group who recommended Canam as a leader in our community.
