Cirque du Soleil for the Cogeco Amphitheatre’s opening
July 15, 2015
Canam-Buildings proudly participated in the construction of the new Cogeco Amphitheatre in Trois-Rivières which will open today with a Cirque du Soleil show entitled “Le monde est fou”, a tribute to Beau Dommage.
The new infrastructure is equipped with a large stage that includes a covered area seating 3,500 and an outdoor amphitheater, landscaped with natural grass, accommodating over 6,500 people.
Canam supplied joists, trusses for the back of the stage and steel deck for this magnificent building measuring 78,500 ft2. This special design including two pointed sections at the back of the structure required joists with a large cantilever whose lower chords slope to form a triangle. Those joists have been transported in two sections and have been bolted directly onto the structure.
This project received an Award of Excellence from Canadian Architect magazine, and aims for a LEED Silver certification.
