Goodco Z-Tech Products for the Construction of 43 Bridges in Alberta

Canam-Bridges was recently awarded the contract to provide different types of Goodco Z-Tech structural bearings and expansion joints for the Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR) project. The Goodco Z-Tech products will be used in the construction of 43 bridges located on this portion of the project that was officially renamed the Tsuut’ina Trail in July. With 31 kilometres of new six- and eight-lane divided highway including 14 interchanges and other infrastructure work, the Tsuut’ina Trail is not expected to be open to traffic before fall 2021. Goodco Z‑Tech’s client is KGL Constructors, a joint venture partnership between Kiewit, Graham and Ledcor, which has been contracted for the design and construction of the project by the Province of Alberta.
For these 43 bridges, the Goodco Z-Tech team will fabricate: 878 elastomeric bearings, 336 laminated sliding bearings, 87 pot bearings, 2,182 feet (665 metres) of finger plate expansion joints and 673 feet (205 metres) of Series 1000 strip seal expansion joints.

Fabrication began in August at the Canam Group shop in Laval, and delivery of components will continue until June 2019.
