IAS Accreditation Renewed for Canam Group
December 15, 2016
The Canam Group plant located in Buckeye, Arizona, recently renewed its accreditation from the International Accreditation Service (IAS) in accordance with the requirements of AC172 Fabricator Inspection Program for Structural Steel. The International Accreditation Service (IAS) provides objective evidence that an organization operates at the highest level of ethical, legal and technical standards. IAS is one of the leading accreditation bodies in the United States and a signatory to several international mutual recognition arrangements (MRAs).
The audit to obtain accreditation took two days during which the auditor examined all angles of fabrication processes and questioned employees. Because of the importance of this accreditation, the teams were nervous, but at the same time had confidence in their work, which they knew was done according to and above standards. Even before learning the results of the audit, a luncheon was held to thank employees for the excellent work they do day after day.
Once the results of the successful audit were announced, a great sense of pride could be felt among employees at the Buckeye facility, especially since no recommendation for improvement was mentioned in the IAS accreditation report. “This just goes to show that we’re making improvements, said Randy Logudice, Quality Control Manager, during a stand-up meeting. Lean processes help us do things better.”
