Opening of the Portageville Railway Bridge

December 19, 2017

The reconstruction of the Portageville Railway Bridge over the Genesee River in New York State is completed and December 11, 2017, saw its first crossing. Canam-Bridges supplied 3,900 tons of steel components for the arch section of the bridge (483 feet.) including large welded box chord members painted inside and outside.

The demolition of the old bridge will be done during the winter and painting of the components of the new bridge will begin in the spring of 2018.

The old Portageville Bridge, built in 1875, will be demolished during the winter.
