The Use of Orthotropic Steel Deck for Short-Span Movable Bridges
May 29, 2017
The Hastings Bridge and the Kingston Mills Bridge, two short-span swinging bridges in Ontario that belong to Parks Canada, were recently rehabilitated using an innovative Canam-Bridges product: orthotropic steel deck.
Éric Lévesque, Eng., M.Sc., Project Services Director, and Brian Raff, Strategic Development Manager, both of Canam-Bridges, will present a case study of the rehabilitation of these two unique bridges at the upcoming Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) Annual Conference. In their presentation, they will discuss the challenges of these projects, and the reasons why orthotropic steel deck was identified as the optimal solution.
The CSCE Annual Conference, the theme of which is “Leadership in Sustainable Infrastructure”, will take place in Vancouver from May 31 to June 3, 2017.
